Ethel Viola Saul^2,23 was born on 13 Jan 1892 in New York, New York.^16,23 She died on 1 Mar 1969.²³ She was buried on 1 Mar 1969 in Atlanta, Georgia.¹⁷ Ethel's birth certificate is in the name Esther Scholsky, but she preferred the name Ethel. When her first grandchild, Stephen Schneider, was a baby she asked to be called "Big Mother" instead of Grandmother. But he was only able to call her "Big," and that's how she came to be known by the grandchildren. The next round of grandchildren called her "Grandma Big."
