Joseph Leb Saul2,14,17,21,36 was born on 27 Apr 1882 in Lithuania.14,17,21 He immigrated on 24 Dec 1916 to San Francisco, California.14,81 He was naturalized on 17 Jul 1919.14 He appeared in the 1920 US census. Joseph L Saul (age 39, born in Russia) boards with Isaac B. Kenny in Temple, Georgia accorcding to the 1920 Census. He died on 5 Feb 1955 in Atlanta, Georgia.17 He was buried on 2 May 1955 in Atlanta, Georgia. In the 1887 List of Residents of Janova, it says that Joseph Leb was enlisted in the National Guard as a private during the 1899 draft. Certificate dated 15th November, 1900, No. 1445 was issued.

In the 1920 Census, he is shown as a boarder with Isaac B. Kenny on Rivermont Street in Temple, Georgia.

He left Jonava to avoid the military and took the TransSiberian railroad to Harbin, China, then went to Japan. He spent three years in Japan and sent consumer goods back to the family to sell. He came to the United States from Yokohoma, Japan. (from an interview with Milton Saul on November 12, 2002)
