David Saul^2,6,14,16,19 was born in 1855 in Lithuania.⁶ He immigrated about 1892.¹⁶ He was naturalized in 1895 in Alabama.¹⁴ He appeared in the 1920 US census.¹⁴ David is listed as a 60 year old, white male. His wife's name is given as Bula, age 56, born in Kovna, Russia. His son, Samuel (age 31) and daughters, Rocky (age 22) and Jennie (age 19) also live there. Samuel and Rocky were born in Kovna, Jennie was born in Georgia. He died on 30 Sep 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia.^19,22 Judith Saul Stix wrote in The Wise Child's Book that David Saul was older than his brothers. . . . He came to America in 1892, and his sons Sam and Joe came in 1894 or 1895. His wife Brina is referred to in the census and the city directories by many names, including Bessie, Berth, and Bella. Dave was in the clothing business when he first came to Atlanta. He is listed in the 1899 city directory. Later he became a dairyman. Nine clildren were listed by the census in 1910. Sam, Rose, and Ida worked in millinery at that time, Joe was an insurance collector, and Mike helped in his father's dairy. Dora, Jennie, and Moses were the children who were born in America. The family lived at 383 Central.

of Janova. I do not know which son that was.

David Saul and Brina Ettelson were married in Kovna Gebernya.¹⁴ Brina Ettelson^2,6,16 (daughter of Ovsei or Berel Ettelson) was born in 1857 in Kovna Gebernya.⁶ She died on 16 Sep 1925 in Atlanta, Georgia.¹⁹ She was buried in Block J-12, Row R-19, grave 21, section 16 in -Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia.¹⁷ The 1920 Census gives her age as 56 which would mean that Brina was born in 1864. Brina must have emigrated to the US between 1898 and 1901 judging by the birthdates of her children. David Saul and Brina Ettelson had the following children:

67	i.	Sam Saul2,14 was born on 12 Feb 1882 in Jonava, Lithuania.40 The 1887 List of Residents of Janova shows a son of David and Brina Saul named Issor. Another entry is for Shmuel Issor (who did not show up for the draft in 1901. He was subject to the draft in 1897 . . .[illegible] . . . 1888 was assigned to the National Guard, II Category). Issor's birthdate is 1880. The 1920 Census gives his age as 31 which would mean he was born in 1889. He immigrated on 1 Nov 1894 to New York, New York.40 He emigrated from Glasgow, Scotland on October 15, 1894. He filed a declaration of intention to become a US citizen on on 30 Apr 1914 in Atlanta, Georgia.40 He died in 1957. He describes himself in his Declaration of Intention to become a citizen as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with a ruddy complexion and brown hair and brown eyes.
